All of the courses are administered by Jonathan Murray, a certified Red Cross Instructor. Certification validity varies between certifications, but recertification can be completed until 30 days past the expiration date on the individuals certificate.

Lifeguarding
Prerequisites
Prerequisite Swim Test
Minimum age: 15 years; Swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl stroke and/or breaststroke; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using steps or a ladder. This must be completed before the course can be taken. This will be taken at the beginning of the first day of the course. Must be taken at the with a RIST LLC instructor.
Recertification participants do not have to take prerequisites until the day of the course.

Materials
Participants are required to bring a bathing suit, towel, and any provided materials, to every class.
Recertification participants are required to bring a bathing suit, towel, and a copy of their current certification to the course. If you can bring a CPR mask it would be appreciated but not required. CPR masks can also be purchased for an additional $10.
